THE PROJECT

Project overview.

For a 2,000-square-foot IT data center, S Y Lee designed mechanical, electrical, and plumbing upgrades that included computer-room air-conditioning replacement, a UPS installation, chilled-water distribution, and plumbing improvements. Electrical upgrades supported the new HVAC and computer equipment alongside existing lighting and power loads.

A separate assignment in Building 167 addressed HVAC noise transmitted through the structure into a 1,000-square-foot special events room. S Y Lee investigated the problem, developed solutions, and prepared construction drawings while retaining the existing HVAC equipment and avoiding impacts elsewhere in the building.

Following completion of the Building 167 project in 2005, noise in the events room was substantially reduced.
