THE PROJECT

Project overview.

The project reimagined Azusa’s 1946 Streamline Moderne depot with a café-style transit store and bicycle station. Architectural and design services supported reuse of the building and the city’s historic preservation goals.

Work addressed seismic safety, deteriorated roofing and roof framing, and interior damage caused by water and other incidents during the building’s closure. Accessibility improvements connected interior floor levels, with additional site work around the building perimeter.

The depot stands within a rail corridor whose first Azusa station opened in 1887. Its reuse connects that history with amenities for commuters and the wider community.
